Cadbury World

Today, we visited Cadbury World in Bourneville.

In Topic, 5.3 have been learning about the Mayans who were the very first people to discover chocolate.

During the day, we learnt a lot about chocolate and how it is manufactured as well as about the Mayans.

Although the weather was terrible, we had a fantastic day and it was great fun.

If you have been to Cadbury World, leave a comment below about what you enjoyed the most about your trip!

We saw how they make chocolate and how they finish it off.

May Day celebrations.

Today the whole of The Oval School participated in the May Day celebrations.

We had lots of fun in 5.3, decorating cakes, May-pole dancing and Morris dancing. We also went out to see the Reception and Nursery children perform a dance.

Have a look at some of our photos below:

A lovely piece of writing about May Day which Tianna did at home.

Morris dancing in the Lower School Hall.

We had traditional music. This instrument is called an Accordian.

May-Pole dancing in the Upper School Hall

Cakes we decorated for our Afternoon tea. Unfortunately, the weather did not allow us to go outside.

St. George's day Celebrations!

On Thursday 23rd April 5.3 learnt about the great patron England, St. George and why he is so important to us all.

We produced some brilliant fact-files about St. George and a few of the very best pieces have been displayed in year 5.

Have a look at our AMAZING display:

A flying visit...

Today we had Mr.NK.Unfortunately, this was the last week we are having him and we are all sad.Mr.NK has taught us to build our confidence in performing in front of the class, doing our times tables through music. He is very important and he has been very influential to us all.

He is a Flying visit just like our owl, Wisey. Wisey includes the Oval's good things and ideas and Mr.NK is a big part of it. Today, Wisey came to join in with our times table session and we learnt the 8, 12 and 9 times tables. Children used  to struggle with their times tables but now children across the school are confident and keen to learn their times tables including us both.

We are really going to miss him and the times tables he taught us and he will always be remembered. We can also teach others such as little siblings.Thank You MR.NK.You are the best!
